Who would've guess, right?).

Timers are great for when you're ready to sit down and focus. Let me know how it goes for you if you decide to try it!Ava Jaehttp://avajae.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-87629970067106156052012-12-16T10:45:05.319-08:002012-12-16T10:45:05.319-08:00I have found that when I get stuck, getting up and...I have found that when I get stuck, getting up and doing something else helps me because I keep thinking about the obstacle and usually get it figured out. Then I can sit down and start writing again with the dishes done.

I'll have to try using a timer.Susan Spencenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-78570412187618234472012-11-21T10:28:01.636-08:002012-11-21T10:28:01.636-08:00You're absolutely right about dedicating even ...You're absolutely right about dedicating even fifteen minutes is better than not writing anything at all. As I like to say, even a hundred (or fifty, or twenty five) words added to the WIP is a hundred more words than you had that morning. Progress is progress!

I also think Margaret's idea about timing unpleasant tasks is clever, as well. I've found that using timers with just about anything helps with time management. :)Ava Jaehttp://avajae.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-14710658469071059982012-11-19T10:45:25.807-08:002012-11-19T10:45:25.807-08:00I read something similar to this from another grea...I read something similar to this from another great blogger/writer today. Even 15 minutes is better than nothing. We've got to be flexible and get it in. I don't actually use a timer; I just establish a time to stop and start. But I guess the timer would give me an audio cue- cause sometimes I ignore the clock! I love Margaret's idea of timing the "yucky" things I don't like to do- so I can spend more time writing!Julia Tomiaknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-83891062515232959362012-11-16T16:13:55.614-08:002012-11-16T16:13:55.614-08:00Thank you, Margaret! I didn't initially time my writing, but when I started using Write or Die, I realized that the combination of watching my word count steadily rise and seeing my time slip away made me write even faster. Rather than stressing me out (like I initially worried it might), I found that timers actually motivated me to write even more. But that's just me. :)Ava Jaehttp://avajae.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-72758044023300468342012-11-16T15:38:08.953-08:002012-11-16T15:38:08.953-08:00Timers! *goes crazy* I love timers. While I don't like to time writing, I do like to time less pleasant tasks, like cleaning, studying, or work. Writing in bursts is definitely my thing too. Such great points, Ava :)Margaret Alexanderhttp://twitter.com/markedforpowernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-60565506918107759152012-11-16T08:33:57.259-08:002012-11-16T08:33:57.259-08:00They're a huge help.
