I had that happen with a NaNo WIP once—a character I'd meant to keep as a secondary friend character butted his way in and demanded on becoming the main love interest. It really is so fun to see how your writing can take twists and develop in ways you didn't expect. :)Ava Jaehttp://avajae.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-38378437168444644502015-03-12T02:33:48.481-07:002015-03-12T02:33:48.481-07:00I know exactly what you're talking about when ...I know exactly what you're talking about when characters start to have a life of their own. When I was first thinking about my current story, not writing, just fleshing it out in my head, the love interest didn't even exist. Then he started slowly edging his way in, first as a minor character, then as a friend, and finally as a love interest. It really changed the entire dynamic of my story, and I guess it just proved to me once and for all that for the most part, I really do not control my characters:)Olivianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-42770917989899920862013-04-28T14:09:32.796-07:002013-04-28T14:09:32.796-07:00Absolutely! If two characters start to gravitate towards each other, great, but if not, I wouldn't worry about it. :)Ava Jaehttp://avajae.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-76220687632287441352013-01-28T20:45:38.994-08:002013-01-28T20:45:38.994-08:00I'm so glad to have read this, because I'v...I'm so glad to have read this, because I've been wondering which of my characters are going to "mix it up" romantically... and none of the combos seems likely, which was leaving me feeling like I must be doing something wrong. Their chemistry all works in their various platonic or mentor/protege relationships, so I guess I can rest easy leaving well enough as is. Thanks for giving me the permission I need to drop a fruitless chase down the wrong path! :)Andi-Roohttp://www.theworld4realz.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-47672460676090581002013-01-26T12:50:52.923-08:002013-01-26T12:50:52.923-08:00Go figure! I gave my protagonist two love interests (typical), but I had not decided who her true love would be. I knew if I picked one, things will get out of hand... She ended up falling for the guy that I didn't even realize was a third love interest.Robin Rednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-606209712314101104.post-49120753297585231002013-01-25T05:30:35.339-08:002013-01-25T05:30:35.339-08:00That has happened to me.
